Ranks - Regiments - Services | 142 Line Infantry

See Collection Items

Notes: This collection consists primarily of uniforms from after the reforms of 1881. all regiments after 25th have a 2nd number that indicates the regiment that it combined with. Regiments 1-25 already had 2 Batallions. After the 25th there were 2 Batallions combined.

After 1922, only 3 Irish infantry regiments remained of the original 8, two Fusilier regiments and one Rifle regiment. The other 5 were disbanded in 1922 when the Irish Free State was founded. Scottish regiments are separated due to the uniqueness and collectibility of the uniforms, particularly the Highland regiments.
